We were starting a Forest Garden Project in 2015 with the aim to create a new micro climate with local plants on one of our meadows.
Early Spring 2015 The field (approx. 1.5 acres) was cleared from a thicket of briars and gorse.
A blessing for the new garden: neighbours helped to sow a few kg of green manure, a mix of two different clovers and mustard seed. We had fun spreading them and "walking" them into the soft soil. Many hands make light work!
Hopefully the birds won't spot the seeds too soon to give them a chance for sprouting and adding goodness to the field.
Trees around the edges due for coppicing have been harvested.
Those smaller sticks are great for getting the oven hot, especially for baking.
Stacking firewood is great fun and a very satisfying activity. Now the timber is left to dry for a couple of years in an airy barn.
